"One of the main advantages of the new variety is its very short ripening period, i.e. 200-215 days. In addition, the yield of the new variety is high, this garlic has 13 cloves, and the quality is fully in line with modern market requirements. In terms of transportability and In terms of shelf life, the new varieties have good characteristics.

Scientists at the Uzbekistan Institute of Vegetable Crops, Melon and Potato Sciences filed a patent in 2022 for a new variety of garlic called "Zhanub" (meaning "Southern"). This type of garlic ripens faster than other varieties.
"We filed documents with the Intellectual Property Office and obtained a patent for the variety. Our next task is to establish the production of seeds of the new variety," said Fakhriddin Rasulov, scientific secretary of the Institute of Vegetable Crops, Melon and Potato Sciences.
