Native to China, the kiwifruit is a bite-sized cousin of the kiwifruit, but without the furry exterior. The fruit has green, pink and purple rind colors and is sweet and aromatic, resembling a cross between kiwi, passion fruit and pineapple. In recent years, kiwifruit has become a hot fruit item due to its unique appearance and strong flavor, and its price has always hovered at a high level.

New Zealand kiwifruit have also been imported into China before, although without official permission from Chinese customs. However, on March 11, 2016, China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine issued a warning notice announcing the suspension of imports of the fruit from New Zealand.
Recently, the website of the General Administration of Customs of China announced that fresh French kiwifruit that meet the phytosanitary requirements can be imported into China. France has become the first country officially approved to export this miniature fruit to China.

For sorting of fresh kiwifruit, FstSort weight graders can be used. Not only is the sorting accurate, but there is no damage or loss to the fruit. Gravimetric sorting equipment like this is used by many farms and processing plants around the world.
