In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, avocados have become a staple of more health-conscious diets. Growers in Latin America have seized on this increase in demand, with trade figures showing that the region now leads the world in exports.

In March, Colombia was busy closing its main season for avocado production and exports. While the country can supply year-round, their Hass avocado supply is slightly reduced from April to September, the secondary season, compared to the peak months of October to March. Latin America now accounts for 75% of global avocado production.
