Recently, we received an inquiry from a Turkish customer about fig sorting and provided a solution timely. Turkey is the leading exporter of figs. Aegean region’s unique climate nurtures high-quality figs.
Turkish figs have a wide variety, including the juicy Sarilop and the highly sweet Bursa Black. These figs are rich in nutrition, containing a wide range of vitamins and minerals. Specifically, their potassium and calcium contents are significantly higher than other common fruits.
However, figs have fragile skins and soft flesh, making them easily damaged by collisions and squeezing. Figs differ a lot in shape, and there are many deformed ones too. Manual sorting is inefficient, and traditional size sorting is difficult to grade accurately.
Therefore, we recommended weight sorting to the customer. The diameter of the customer’s figs ranged from 61-84 mm, and their weight ranged from 30-80 grams. This equipment can process 2-4 tons per hour. Based on the average weight of the customer's figs, its actual throughput can reach 3.2 tons per hour. Considering the characteristics of figs, we designed sorting after the V-belt, with workers placing the figs on weighing trays. Finally, two side exits improve worker packaging efficiency. FstSort weight sorter is highly efficient and gentle on the fruit, perfectly meeting the customer’s needs.
This fig weight grader can reduce product waste by 30%, helping fig producers around the world, from family orchards to large exporters, to increase the value of their products.
