Sweet potato, a popular food in China since the ancient times. Especially in the 1950s, due to economic difficulties and food shortages, sweet potato once became the staple food in the countryside. This mainly depends on the characteristics of sweet potatoes, such as drought resistance, easy sowing, high yield and suitability for national planting.
As a manufacturer of sweet potato processing machine, Zhengzhou First Industry is not professional in planting. From the communication with customers, many farmers who entered the business not too long are worried about the capacity and taste of their sweet potato. Thus, we consulted an experienced Chinese farmer Mr. Wu about the planting method.
The sweet potato planted in the spring has now entered an important stage. If opening the seedlings in the field, we can clearly see the cracks around the roots of the sweet potato, indicating that the tubers have entered a period of rapid expansion, which is also a key period of high sweet potato production.
“At this time, we need to increase the application of sweet potato phosphorus potassium fertilizer, to ensure that sweet potato tuber expansion required phosphorus potassium element.
“The most effective method is to irrigate the roots and then pour the solution of plant ash into the cracks so that the roots of the sweet potato can absorb potassium quickly. However, this method is laborious and suitable for small farmers. Spraying is better for large farmer. Farmers can put plant ash into a special spray device, place a tenth of the ash in water, dilute it with water, and spray it on sweet potato leaves.”Mr. Wu said.
We noticed that he referred the plant ash to our colleague from Zhengzhou First Industry. Plant ash is not only rich in phosphorus and potassium, but also contains more than ten kinds of trace elements, which can provide phosphorus and potassium for the growth of sweet potato.
The main use of sweet potatoes in plant ash is to significantly improve taste and commercial properties. At the same time, plant ash can inhibit the growth of sweet potato seedlings, thus reducing the loss of sweet potato nutrients, so that nutrients can be concentrated on the development of sweet potato, thus increasing the capacity of sweet potato.
Because plant ash is a natural organic fertilizer, it will not cause plant toxicity to crops. Farmers are advised to use it every 15 days and three times in a row, which can increase capacity by 20%-30%. The key is to increase the commercialization of sweet potatoes.
Of course, if there is no time, spraying 0.2% KH2PO4 is also available, dilute it by 300-500 times, and then spray to supplement the potash fertilizer, which is particularly effective and beneficial to increase the capacity.
