According to business daily Africa, Kenya's Trade Minister Chris kiptoo recently said that in negotiations with China last week, China agreed to reduce the import tariff of Kenya's avocado from 30% to 7%. Kiptoo said the decision will help Kenyan farmers who export avocados to the Chinese market to make higher profits.

However, China's entry requirements for Kenyan avocados remain the same: three requirements: the removal of inedible skins and cores;Quick-freezing treatment must be conducted at a temperature of -30℃ or below, and not less than 30 minutes;Storage and transport temperatures should be maintained at -18 ° c or below.

These conditions limit the market access of small-scale growers in Kenya. In the list of registered packaging plants for frozen avocado exported to China issued by the General Administration of Customs of China on June 14, 2019, only one enterprise named vertical agro was qualified to pack avocado exported to China.
