China remains the biggest buyer of Fruits and vegetables from Vietnam

According to Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam fruit and Vegetable Association (Vina fruit) said that in the first half of 2021, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports reached US $2.063 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.7%. Among them, the total export of fruits and vegetables in June was USD 360 million, with a year-on-year increase of 38%. If the growth momentum from January to June can be maintained in the second half of the year, Vietnam's fruit and vegetable exports are expected to reach US $4 billion this year.

Deng Fuyuan, Secretary General of Vietnam fruit and vegetable association, said that Vietnam's exports of fruits and vegetables to major markets have recovered, its dependence on China has been reduced, and exports from markets such as the European Union, the United States, South Korea and Japan have increased. Nevertheless, China is still the largest buyer of fruits and vegetables in Vietnam, and exports to China account for 56% of Vietnam's total exports of fruits and vegetables. In the first half of 2021, Vietnam exported 1.25 billion US dollars of fruits and vegetables to China, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%.

 

Before that, 9 Vietnamese fruits were allowed to enter China's market, namely pitaya, longan, mango, litchi, bananas, jackfruit, red dot, watermelon and mangosteen. In addition, Vietnamese sweet potato and durian were also allowed to be temporarily exported to China.
