Brazil’s Mango Season Peaks, Driving Demand for Upgraded Sorting Technology

As Brazil's 2024 mango harvest season arrives, the demand for high-quality mangoes is surging, particularly in the key growing regions of Pernambuco, Bahia, and Sergipe in the northeastern part of the country. From August to December each year, Brazil reaches its peak mango harvesting period, meeting both domestic and international market needs.

To ensure that each mango reaches consumers in its best condition, some packing facilities are adopting advanced fruit sorting and packing lines. Let’s take a closer look at how large volumes of mangoes are handled efficiently and swiftly.

The weight-based grading system sorts mangoes into different categories according to their weight. This process is highly accurate, allowing the mangoes to be classified into various grades such as premium, first grade, and second grade. Farmers can better meet market demand for high-quality mangoes and sell them at higher prices based on their classification.

Once sorted, the mangoes are conveyed to the packing station, where they are either automatically packed or manually placed into designated boxes. During packing, care is taken to handle the mangoes gently, avoiding any bruising or damage.

By utilizing automated equipment, the speed of sorting and packing is significantly increased, ensuring that the mangoes are processed within their optimal freshness period. This reduces wastage and spoilage, guaranteeing that more high-quality mangoes make it to market in top condition.
