Bell pepper sorting processing line

4-lane bell pepper weight sorter with integrated color grading system sorting green red yellow peppers

FstSort has introduced a 4-lane weight sorting line for bell peppers, now featuring an integrated color grading system. The line automatically sorts peppers by color (green, red, yellow, orange), detects size and external defects (scars, rot, mechanical damage), and achieves a selection rate of over 99%. This solution addresses the labor-intensive challenge of manual color sorting caused by varying pepper maturity at harvest.

Bell peppers come in a variety of shapes and colors – from the standard full bell shape, to chunky mini peppers, snack-sized 'lunchbox' peppers, and long, thin horns. The green pepper is an unripe fruit that turns red once ripe. Depending on the variety, peppers may ripen to pale yellow, fiery orange, deep red, or dark purple. Compared to fully ripe bell peppers, green peppers have a slightly bitter taste. Bell peppers are rich in vitamins and other antioxidants and are low in calories, making them a healthy addition to our diet.

Due to the difference in maturity, different colors appear when harvested. Manual color sorting is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Our company has recently introduced a 4-lane weight sorting processing line. What makes this different from previous versions is the addition of a color grading system. It can not only automatically identify and sort peppers by color, but also detect size and external quality defects, accurately removing under-quality products. The line achieves high sorting speed and efficiency, with a selection rate of over 99% for high-quality peppers.
