According to the Global Times report in the English version of Global Times, the export volume and prices of Chinese apples have both plummeted due to the outbreak of the epidemic in Southeast Asia that has restrained the local economy.

Li Guoping, manager of the Qixia Lewang Vegetable and Fruit Company in Shandong Province, said that orders from Southeast Asia have dropped by 60% this year, causing serious losses. Li Guoping said that the increase in production in 2020, the early hoarding of growers and export challenges are the main reasons for the decline in prices.

In the past month, new crown confirmed cases have surged in Vietnam and Thailand, and blockades have been taken in Malaysia and Singapore. Southeast Asia accounts for the majority of China's apple exports, but due to the blockade measures, the supply chain is interrupted, and the demand for apple is also greatly reduced.
