On September 13, Wang Lingjun, deputy director of the General Administration of Customs of the people's Republic of China, signed the protocol between the General Administration of Customs of the people's Republic of China and the Ministry of agriculture and forestry of the Lao People's Democratic Republic on the plant quarantine requirements for the export of fresh passion fruit from Laos to China with PE pompipa of the Ministry of agriculture and forestry of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
The Ministry of agriculture and forestry of Laos has said that China is the largest export market of Laos, and 80% of the agricultural products exported by Laos are shipped to China. So far, a total of 8 Lao agricultural products have signed bilateral protocols to China, namely rice, corn, banana, watermelon, dried cassava, sweet potato, fresh beans and passion fruit. Laos is also preparing to export fruit such as durian, longan, pitaya, jackfruit and oranges to China.
The large-scale planting of passion fruit in China began in 2012. At present, the planting scale is more than 700000 Mu and the annual output is more than 600000 tons. The planting of passion fruit in China is mainly concentrated in the southeast coast and southwest, of which the output of Guangxi accounts for about 50% of the total output of the country.
The consumption of fresh passion fruit in China accounts for about 80% of the total output, and is mainly concentrated in online e-commerce. According to tmall's statistics, in June 2019, passion fruit sales accounted for 13.9% of all tmall's fruit sales, ranking the third in all fruit sales in China.
With the rapid development of beverage and new tea market, the demand for passion fruit products is also increasing. China's passion fruit trade mainly imports passion fruit juice. 90% of them come from Vietnam and a small amount from Thailand, Ecuador and other countries.
