With the Christmas and New Year holidays approaching, the imported fruit market is at its traditional sales peak. Exotic fruits are a favourite on the festive table due to their unique flavour and diversity. This year's favourites include avocados and apple persimmons imported from Israel, persimmons from Spain and mangoes from Brazil and Peru, according to Gerardo Parisi of Caab Wholesale Market in Bologna, Italy.

‘We are seeing a gradual increase in customer interest, but this year's market performance is slightly quieter compared to previous years,’ Parisi said. ‘Prices for avocados range from €3.50 to €5 per kilo, depending on the variety, while prices for mangoes vary considerably depending on origin and mode of transport, from €2.30 per kilo in Brazil to €5.50 per kilo in Peru.’
