Peru exported 266,000 tons of citrus in 2021, according to Agraria, a Peruvian agricultural website. Sergio Del Castillo, general manager of Peruvian citrus association ProCitrus, said exports are expected to reach around 300,000 tons in 2022, an increase of 8-10% year-on-year.
Peru's main export of citrus fruit is oranges, which amounted to 215,000 tons in 2021. Even with the impact of increased production costs and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Peruvian orange exports were up 12 percent year on year in the 14th week of 2022. Peruvian orange exports are expected to reach about 230,000 tons in 2022.
