Florida's fresh orange planting industry has recovered from Hurricane Irma. Good climate conditions in the 2018/19 season are expected to lead to a 36% increase in fresh orange production in the United States,reaching 4.8 million tons, but the increase comes mainly from Florida, where 95of fresh oranges will flow into the processing end, so exports may decline year-on-year.
Brazil
Brazil is the world's largest producer of fresh oranges, but processing juice is the main way of consumption of Brazilian fresh oranges. Thanks to ideal climatic conditions during flowering and fruiting periods, Brazil's fresh orange production is expected to reach 20.2 million tons in 2018/19, an increase of 26% over the same period last year. China
Influenced by bad weather, China's fresh orange production in the 2018/19 season will decline slightly from the same period last year, estimated to be about 7.2 million tons, and consumption and imports will decline. South Africa and Egypt are China's largest suppliers of fresh oranges, accounting for about 60% of China's import market.
Other countries have also increased orange production to some extent, such as South Africa, Morocco, Mexico, Turkey and so on.
