California walnut industry production forecast is down 19 percent
The United States Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) has released its official 2024 California walnut industry objective measurement report. The forecast predicts walnut production will drop by 19%, with an estimated output of 670,000 tons (607,814 metric tons), down from 824,000 tons (747,520 metric tons) in 2023. The projected harvested area for 2024 is 370,000 acres, marking a 4% decrease from 2023's 385,000 acres.
