China is the most important export market for Vietnam's mangoes. 83.9% of Vietnam's mangoes are exported to China, with an export value of US$152 million. This is followed by Russia, the United States, South Korea, the European Union, Australia and Japan. In 2020, Vietnam's mango production will reach 880,000 tons, an increase of 4.9%. However, due to the outbreak of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and strict border import and export control policies, fruit exports have declined during the same period, especially exports to China by about 25%.

According to data from the Agricultural Processing and Market Development Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Vietnam's mango exports in 2020 will exceed 180 million US dollars, accounting for only 1.15% of the world's total mango exports. The unit stated that the prerequisite for exporting mangoes is traceability of origin. In 2020, Jiulong River Delta has obtained 271 planting area codes. In particular, the 1,789 hectares of mango cultivation in Vietnam adopts the Vietnam Good Agricultural Practice (VietGap) certification standard and the Global Good Agricultural Practice Standard (GLOBAL GAP), accounting for 3.8% of the total area of mangoes. Therefore, it is necessary to further expand the mango planting area to meet export requirements.
