Low prices for small and medium-sized mangoes in Spain

The persistently warm weather and lack of rainfall in Spain have resulted in large quantities of small fruit, which is the biggest obstacle to maintaining satisfactory prices for producers.

The variety Osteen, the most common variety in Spain, was harvested in full crop this year, mainly in the form of small fruit, which led to a drop in prices as many sellers did not accept these sizes, although the quality of this year's fruit was one of the best ever.

At the end of October, many retailers saw an increase in sales of Spanish mangoes, but as the season drew to a close and volumes dwindled, prices rose sharply. Nevertheless, prices of small and medium mangoes were lower throughout the season than last year, while prices of larger mangoes were at the same level as last year.
