On the morning of December 18, COSCO Shipping's "XINSHANGHAI" (New Shanghai) cargo ship berthed at the Shanghai Port, and the first batch of Peruvian fruits transported by the "Chancay-Shanghai" direct route successfully arrived at the Shanghai Yangshan Port Terminal. The first batch of direct fruits from Chancay Port included blueberries, avocados, grapes, mangoes, etc., totaling more than 20,000 tons. After the opening of Chancay Port, the one-way shipping time between China and Peru was shortened to 23 days, while the previous route time was generally 33-43 days, the logistics cost was reduced by more than 20%, and it was greatly beneficial to fresh fruits and vegetables.

Currently, the first phase of Chancay Port has been put into use for only more than a month, and the port has entered the "testing and debugging" stage and is fully operational. According to Peru Economista, this stage will focus on optimizing efficiency, improving performance and technology, and is expected to last until May next year.
The first shipment was sent in late November on the XINSHANGHAI, carrying mainly refrigerated goods including blueberries, sending a positive signal to Peruvian agricultural enterprises, while also exporting mineral products to China. As of the beginning of this month, the Port of Chancay has successfully shipped more than 1,700 containers.
Starting this month, COSCO Shipping Group has opened a direct route from Chancay to Shanghai, with one flight per week, and four container ships will complete the voyage in 25 days. Port staff have held meetings with business associations and potential customers in Colombia, Ecuador and Brazil, with the goal of having transshipment cargo from other countries account for 65% of the port's throughput.
